Kaikōura Tiny Wee Library is a community project combining Art and Literature.  We want to encourage accessibility of books within our community for locals, visitors and tourists alike.  Alongside this we have created a unique and stunning Arts Trail which will weave you in and out of some of Kaikōura's amazing scenery.  We hope that the trail will continue to grow as will the love of reading and books.

Currently we have many new people living within our community as the rebuild of rail and road continues after the earthquake of 14 November 2016 along with tourists visiting our amazing coastline.  Although part of the community it is often difficult for these people to access books or local services either due to working long hours or not being a rate payer.  We hope that this collection of Tiny Wee Libraries will help bridge that gap, growing and joining the community Kaikōura currently has.

Kaikōura Tiny Wee Library has grown out of an idea we saw in Dunedin where free road-side libraries made getting new books to read while travelling easy.  We are excited to be creating our own which will combine this ease of getting books with amazing art work to view at each Tiny Wee Library.  We are extremely grateful to Te Hā o Mātauranga - Learning in Kaikōura for providing funding for this project and to the wonderful people lead by Peter Fey in the Kaikōura Community Shed.  Without their support, time, money and belief in what was possible we would never have made it all happen.
